A Mountain Shadows Resort Wedding: Avery & Tyler's Citron Green Celebration with Cambelback Views
Some weddings unfold in a single space. And then there are weddings like Avery and Tyler's - ones that move through an entire venue like a story with distinct chapters, each more beautiful than the last. A ceremony under open sky. A reception on one of the most spectacular terraces in the Valley. And an afterparty that turned a ballroom into something guests never wanted to leave.
Their May 2026 celebration at Mountain Shadows Resort in Paradise Valley was all of those things - and it was held together by one of the most unexpected and confident color palettes we've seen this season: natural wood tones, citron green, and rich velvety brown tones. Not a combination you'd find on a standard inspiration board. Exactly the kind of combination that makes a wedding feel genuinely, unmistakably like the couple it belongs to.
Planned by Kailoha Co Events and captured by Isa Marie Creative, this wedding was a masterclass in how to use a venue's architecture - and its views - as a design partner rather than just a backdrop.
The Ceremony
The Sofia Dining Chair, one of Prim's most versatile ceremony pieces, set the tone from the very first moment guests arrived. With its warm natural wood frame and cane back oval, the Sofia brought an organic, textural quality to the ceremony setup that felt completely at home against Mountain Shadows' signature landscape. Rows of chairs lined the ceremony space, the palette already whispering the story of what was to come - natural, warm, considered.
Cocktail Hour
While guests moved from the ceremony, Prim's lounge collection set the stage for cocktail hour. The design centered on intimate conversation groupings built around the Harper Loveseats - comfortable yet sophisticated, and perfectly scaled for cocktail hour flow - paired with Kinsley Coffee Tables and fringe umbrellas that gave each grouping an anchor and a surface for drinks and candles.
The Signature Half Oval Panel Bar served as the bar centerpiece, its clean architectural form and panel detailing making it a statement piece in its own right. Styled with florals and glassware, it became the natural gathering point for the hour - functional and beautiful in equal measure.
The Austin Back Bar Shelves provided the backdrop behind the bar - open shelving layered with glassware and florals that carried the palette through every corner of the space.
It was a cocktail hour that gave guests somewhere genuinely beautiful to land - and made the transition to the terrace reception feel like a natural escalation.
The Camelback Overlook Reception
If the cocktail hour set the tone, the Camelback Overlook terrace delivered the moment. This is one of the most dramatic outdoor reception spaces in the Valley - elevated above the resort grounds with unobstructed views of Camelback Mountain on one side and the glittering Paradise Valley skyline on the other. On a May evening, with the sun beginning its descent toward the horizon, it is, simply put, one of the most beautiful places in Arizona to celebrate.
The design team framed the terrace entrance with dramatic draping - a design decision that created a threshold moment, signaling to guests that they were stepping into something intentional. Inside, a long serpentine table ran down the center of the terrace, its curves creating an intimate, gathered quality that a straight farm table or round configuration simply can't replicate. The serpentine form invites conversation across and along the table in a way that feels genuinely social rather than formal - and it photographs magnificently from above.
Layered over the serpentine table: rich brown velvet linens from BBJ La Tavola that grounded the entire palette. Against the citron green and cream floral arrangements by Stoddard Floral and Co and the natural wood tones of the Sofia Dining Chairs lining both sides, the velvet read luxurious and unexpected - exactly the right material choice for a palette this specific.
Signage by Deco Ink Designs and Freja Creative carried the design language through to the paper goods, and the overall effect of the terrace was a reception that felt cohesive from the moment guests stepped through the draped entrance to the moment they reluctantly left for the ballroom.
The Ballroom Afterparty
The final chapter of Avery and Tyler's wedding was perhaps the most surprising - and the most fun. The Mountain Shadows ballroom, fully transformed with dramatic draping throughout, became the afterparty destination once dinner on the terrace concluded. And rather than feeling like a step down from the Camelback Overlook, it felt like an entirely different world.
The same Prim lounge configurations that had anchored the cocktail hour - Harper Loveseats, Kinsley Coffee Tables, Gold Dome Lamps, Austin Back Bar Shelves - reappeared in the ballroom, creating intimate pockets within the larger dance space. It's one of Prim's favorite applications of lounge seating: placed around the perimeter of a dance floor, these groupings give guests somewhere to rest, watch, and reconnect between songs - extending the life of the party and making the room feel designed rather than just operational.
The draping throughout the ballroom, combined with the warm glow of the lamps and the energy of the dance floor, created an environment that felt like a nightclub and a living room at once. Guests stayed late. That's always the sign of a wedding that got it right.
