Desert Chic: 3 Rules for Designing Elevated Outdoor Lounges
When it comes to an Arizona celebration, the desert landscape is often the star of the show. But at Prim, we believe your furniture should do more than just blend in—it should provide a sophisticated contrast that feels both intentional and high-fashion.
This recent desert wedding was a masterclass in "Desert Chic," using a mix of bold color, organic textures, and curated furniture to create an intimate oasis in the middle of the vast landscape. Here is how we achieved the look.
1. Anchor the Space with Deep Tones
Many people assume desert weddings require a strictly neutral palette, but we love a bold anchor. The Blue Penny Sofa provided a rich, sophisticated pop against the sun-drenched sand. By choosing a deep jewel tone, the lounge area becomes an immediate focal point, drawing guests in for a comfortable cocktail hour experience.
2. Mix High-Fashion Textures
Texture is the secret to an elevated lounge. For this design, we paired the sleekness of our Anya Leather Poufs with the playful, tactile appeal of the Cassidy Accent Chairs. To ground the look in the Southwest aesthetic, we added the Colt Cowhide Butterfly Accent Chair. Mixing leather, fur, and cowhide creates a sensory experience that feels luxurious and perfectly "Arizona."
3. Create Intimacy in Wide Open Spaces
The desert can feel infinite, so the goal is to create an "outdoor room" that feels cozy. We used a layer of curated rugs and throw pillows to define the boundaries of the lounge. Centering the space with the organic lines of the Ewan Coffee Table provided a functional yet stylish spot for guests to set their drinks while enjoying the sunset.
